Bioidentical HRT: Marketing vs Medicine

“Bioidentical HRT” is frequently advertised on social media as a premium or superior treatment. In clinical practice, this is misleading. Many standard HRT preparations already contain bioidentical hormones, including oestradiol and micronised progesterone, which are well-studied, regulated, and routinely prescribed. If you want to know which are bio identical then do your research ask a sex therapist or ask the GP.

For most women, conventional HRT prescribed by a GP or menopause specialists is sufficient and appropriately individualised, based on symptoms, medical history, and response to treatment — not routine hormone testing alone which changes week on week in any case. Your HRT nurse or doctor will request regular reviews and blood tests from you.

Private “bioidentical” clinics whilst legitimate often promote doubt in the medical professions ability to provide suitable HRT for women but the offerings are adapted to the individual. Private clinics will promote extensive hormone testing and costly treatment packages without clear evidence of improved outcomes.

.

Conclusion: In the majority of cases, established, evidence-based HRT from your health provider gives effective, tailored treatment without the expense or claims associated with social-media-marketed bioidentical programmes.

Use your noodle and don't believe the hype. If its on Facebook it's an Ad and Ads are about making money not altruistic concern for menopausal women!
